Before Your Surgery
-
We will schedule you for preadmission testing at the hospital (you will be tested for COVID-19).
-
We will help you get medical clearance from your primary care provider and any specialists that you see regularly.
-
We will schedule you for a preop visit with Dr. Mesiha to fill out some paperwork and answer any questions you may have.
-
You will prepare yourself to be compliant with any postoperative restrictions that you will have (e.g. for a rotator cuff repair you will have to wear a sling at all times for six weeks followed by six more weeks of no pushing/pulling/lifting for a total of three months of having very little use of your arm). These precautions may be a nuisance, but they are necessary for a great result.
-
You will prepare to have the help that you need both the day of your surgery and the early postoperative recovery.
-
You will get a recliner or another way of propping yourself up, since it is hard to sleep flat after shoulder surgery.
The Day of Your Surgery
-
Leading up to your surgery, you will follow all the instructions given to you at the preadmission testing.
-
After your surgery, you will follow one of the these procedure specific instructions that will be given to you on the day of surgery:
